The Dental Assistant programme prepares a student to work at the chair: handing instruments, mixing materials, keeping the field clean and keeping the patient at ease through the appointment.
Four-handed dentistry and instrument transfer, the dental operatory and its sterilisation cycle, impression and restorative materials, suction and isolation, radiography support, and the record-keeping a practice is inspected on. Infection control is taught as a procedure with a sequence, not as a list of rules.
Twelve two-hour sessions on campus. The chair, the unit and the autoclave are in the room, so the student practises the transfer and the setup until it is habit. Sessions are taught by assistants and dentists who work in Abu Dhabi practices.
Dental assistant roles in private clinics and hospital dental departments, and the first step toward a hygiene or radiography pathway for students who want to go further.
